Donation Bag Information and Items to Bring to the Macchi School
COPA weight limit is 50 pounds per bag. We will each check in two bags. The first bag has no additional cost. This bag is filled with our own items while the second should be filled with donated items. Each passenger will have to pay $40 to check the second bag. The actual donation suitcase will be returned to the student for the return to the USA. Ideally, this second suitcase should fit in the first suitcase on the way back to avoid paying another $40 on the return flight. We will need around 20 team members to take down computers and Team Tobati t-shirts instead of donated items. These team members will only need to produce an empty suitcase which will be filled up by the computer or t-shirts. Used warm weather clothes, used caps, and used sneakers are great things to pack in the second bag if you aren't taking computers or team t-shirts. Below is a letter from Ariel Gonzalez (vice director at the Macchi School) highlighting some other potential items to bring in your donation bag.
Hello Mr. Garcia and Team Tobati,
I pray you are all doing great. The students at the Macchi School are starting classes soon and they are already very excited for the March trip. I am writing to you on behalf of them and all the teachers. We greatly benefit from your annual March donations. Please know we will always be grateful to you for such wonderful gifts. This year we would like to share a list of things we need for classes, to reward our teachers and students, as well as to keep the garden growing bigger and bigger. Anything you are able to bring will be welcomed and used properly in our school.
For English classes, Research Method and Reading Lounge: We would like to improve our library and our English curriculum. We are hoping to equip and decorate the back room of the library so the students can have another quiet and relaxing place to read, or study. Also, our students (seniors) are required to present a research paper in order to graduate. We would greatly benefit from having:
