Supporting Team Tobati 2025's Service Trip

Please click on this link to help support the 2025 team's drive to support the Macchi School. During our March service trip, the team will work and fund all these projects during our time in Paraguay. Spread this information to your family, friends, and also to busniesses who might be interested in supporting our community service trip. Our goal is to raise $32,000 to strengthen the Macchi School in Tobati, Paraguay. 
  • Maintenance of large gardens at the Macchi School
  • Painting of classrooms of the Macchi School
  • Maintenance work at Soccer field behind the Macchi School
  • New chairs for the Macchi School classrooms
  • Construction of large fence Macchi School
  • Distributing toothbrushes and soccer balls at schools throughout the district of Tobati
  • Providing free breakfast each day for all Macchi Students for a month
  • Construction of new roof over administrative offices and recreational room at the Macchi School
  • Providing free lunch each day for all Macchi Students for a month
  • School Supplies (books, backpacks, binders, notebooks, pens, etc) for each student for the year
  • Monthly Salary for Faculty at the Macchi School
We are also looking to bring the following items for the Macchi School.  Used warm weather clothes, used caps, and used sneakers are great things to bring as donated items.  Below is a letter from Ariel Gonzalez (vice director at the Macchi School) highlighting some other potential items to bring in your donation bag.  
  • Used clothes (warm weather)
  • Used shoes (sneakers)
  • Paint brushes
  • All colors of paint
  • Colored paper
  • Regular pencils and colored pencils
  • Markers for fabric
  • Highlighters or sharpies
  • Sticky Notes (all shapes, sizes, and colors are welcome)
 Some English language books: It doesn’t sound like I am asking for candy or toys, not fun at all! But, smart kids could one day create their own candies and toys! And SPEAK ENGLISH FLUENTLY. Anyways, we would like to improve our English curriculum. We are hoping to build our stockpile of our textbooks of the AMERICAN HEADWAY series. Our teachers will greatly appreciate it if we could help them obtain twenty copies the first level of these books. They are a little bit expensive here and not all the bookstores sell them. Please let Mr. Garcia know if you purchase copies of the book and how many.

Seeds for the garden: We have almost 100 kids eating lunch at school, and they love fresh veggies and fruits.  Please help us grow our own organic goods.

  • Tomatoes: we usually grow Plum tomatoes, Roma, Beefsteak, or Brandywine because of fruit size and we need them mostly for sandwiches and salads.
  • Peppers: more suitable for our school garden are bell pepper, Anaheim, and sweet banana pepper. Just go easy on the spicy varieties, students don´t eat a lot of spicy food here.
  • Onions: any green onion and red, sweet, or yellow root onion.
  • Lettuces: we mostly grow and consume big green leafy lettuces, romaine and iceberg are very suitable. If possible, we would also love to grow some purple ones.
  • Carrots: Nantes, Danvers, Imperator, sounds like big roots.
  • Green or yellow summer squash, and eggplants also go to the menu once in a while.
  • Watermelon, honeydew, cantaloupe. They are very tasty and refreshing, especially during the summer heat.

COPA weight limit is 50 pounds per bag. We can each check in one bag for free along with our carry on item. This bag can be filled with our own items along with some donated items or you can check in a second bag with donated items but this would cost you $100.
