Team Tobati 2026 - Los Angeles Group
Team Tobati's Los Angeles branch’ is very excited abourt our fourth-annual service learning trip to Paraguay from March 21 - 29, 2026. Participants will spend the week in Tobati, a small town about 2 hours outside the capital city, doing a combination of service learning and cultural exchange activities with students at the Macchi School. El Colegio Reinaldo Macchi, founded and partially funded by two doctors (a married couple) who emigrated from Paraguay to the United States, provides full scholarships to the most talented students from the poorest neighborhoods and villages around Tobati, giving them an opportunity to escape the abject poverty that plagues their communities.
The trip provides a unique opportunity to explore an entirely new culture and make lasting bonds with kids from the other side of the world, while also making a real, tangible impact on the lives of others. Many of the students (and their parents) at ICRM have never left their village, so the opportunity to create a friendship with someone from another continent is not just exciting, but also inspiring –many students have comented that interacting and befriending American students offers a glimpse of the world outside of Tobati and motivates them to believe in the school’s motto: “todo es posible // anything is possible”.
