Team Tobati 2025
A Week of Optimism, Friendship, and Lasting Impact
Team Tobati’s March 2025 Service Learning Trip to Tobati, Paraguay marked the team’s 25th March journey and shone as a vibrant celebration of service, culture, and connection. For eight unforgettable days, Kingswood Oxford students and faculty worked hand-in-hand with partners from the Macchi School, living with warm host families and immersing themselves fully in the daily life of the 21 villages of Tobati.
Together the team completed meaningful projects that left a lasting mark: a new roof over the administrative offices and recreational room at the Macchi School, a large new fence surrounding the school grounds, a kitchen and eating area at a rural school in Ensenada, and an outdoor patio at San Rafael School. Classrooms were freshly painted, fruit trees were planted, gardens were tended, trails were cleared, and the soccer field received careful maintenance. Students also distributed toothbrushes and soccer balls across the district, worked at brick factories and a family farm, practiced wood carving in Rosado, and created pottery in 21 de Julio.
Beyond the construction, every day overflowed with joy and energy. The group learned Guaraní and Spanish phrases, cooked traditional Paraguayan meals, rehearsed vibrant dances for the annual competition, and celebrated together at the kermés festival, Paraguayan Night, and the dazzling Noche de Estrellas. They hiked the Tobatí hills, visited the vine sculptures at Ysypo, played soccer, shared lunches in student homes, and ended the week with a joyful pool party and heartfelt farewell at the Macchi School.
The most rewarding aspect of the trip was the bond that grew between American and Paraguayan. They became teammates, dance partners, and true friends. They discovered that working with open hands and open hearts creates something far greater than any single project. Team members returned home carrying new confidence, deeper empathy, and the living proof that todo es posible cuando actuamos con el corazón — everything is possible when we act with heart.
The March 2025 journey was more than a service trip. It was a celebration of possibility, a week of pure light that continues to shine in every friendship formed and every life touched.
