Team Tobatí X - March 2006 - The Team's 10th Service Trip

Team Tobatí X was made up of 94 students, 12 K-O faculty, 2 alumni, and 2 doctors totaling 110 members.  This community service trip to Tobatí, Paraguay was the team's 10th and its most ambitious.  This team had the largest group of volunteers and also undertook the most projects and programs to benefit the region's poor.  Along with other initiatives, Team Tobatí X completely funded and worked extensively on the following projects:

  • Construction of a Community Development center in the poor rural village of Mompox, Tobatí.
  • Construction of a classroom at the small grade school in the poor rural village of Loma Verde, Tobatí.
  • Construction of a stone fence in the small grade school in the poor rural village of Costa Alegre, Tobatí.
  • Construction of a classroom in the poor San Jose Obrero neighborhood in the town of Tobatí.
  • Construction of a classroom in the small Maestra Patricia school in the poor Virgin de los Remedios neighborhood in the town of Tobatí.
  • Construction of a classroom in the poor San Miguel grade school in the poor rural village of 21 de Julio, Tobatí.
  • Construction of a new roof at CONADOMI high school in central Tobatí.
  • Construction of a kitchen at Maria Auxiliadora grade school in the town of Tobatí.
  • Construction of a classroom in the small grade school in the poor rural village of C. Dominguez.
  • Work at 3 different Tobatí brick and tile factories.
  • Teaching of English at the Macchi Education center.
  • Taking flouride and new soccer goals to schools throughout the villages of Tobatí.
  • Visiting the poor houses of the 7th and 8th graders of the Macchi Education center.
  • Construction of a soccer field and a surrounding sports complex.
  • Construction of a sidewalk within the Cap. Pedro Juan Caballero elementary school in Central Tobatí.
  • Painting of the team's childrens' park in central Tobatí.
  • Helping Dr. Eisenberg, Dr. Quintana, and CT doctors from the Connecticut Children's Medical Center with clinics for the poor at the Tobatí health clinic and in different rural villages.
