of the brightest 7th graders from Tobatí's poor villages and neighborhoods. In February 2006, the center added an additional grade and doubled the size of its school. In February 2007, the school added another grade made up of fifteen talented and motivated underprivileged students to triple the size of its school.  In February 2008, the school added another grade and officially started its new high school.  The school now consists of a seventh, eighth, ninth, and tenth grade, which offers the highest possible level of education along with meals and health services to its students free of charge. While all the other schools in the department of Tobatí only offer 3-4 hours of school each day, the Macchi School meets for ten hours per day. The Macchi students study English, Portuguese, Guaraní, Computer Science, and other courses, which are all taught by the best teachers in the region.

Vision: The Macchi
Education Center
and School strives to provide an accessible place for curricular and extracurricular interaction among the youth of Tobatí.  The center achieves this aim by providing a multitude of programs ranging from curricular activities such as a school for 7th, 8th, 9th, & 10th graders, English classes, and computer classes to extracurricular activities such as summer camps, girl scouts, exciting community events, community service initiatives, and art programs. The Macchi Education Center and School is a hub of community interaction, where ideas begin, discourse flourishes, and young people come to learn, engage, and contribute to their community.

Work in Tobati

Team Tobati 4 and 5 both spent significant time helping in the construction of the education center by leveling the ground, laying bricks, and transporting materials. Team Tobati 7 will dedicate a lot of time to helping the educational promoters with the center's ongoing programs and projects.
