productive and challenging after school activities, as well as teaching literacy, computer science, and English to the poor of Tobatí. Along with serving as a middle school and high school, the institute is currently teaching and mentoring over 950 additional Tobatí students for free. The center also organizes soccer leagues, a district wide olympics, numerous festivals, summer camps, a girl scouts organization, and numerous other youth events.

of the brightest 7th graders from Tobatí's poor villages and neighborhoods. In February 2006, the center added an additional grade and doubled the size of its school. In February 2007, the school added another grade made up of fifteen talented and motivated underprivileged students to triple the size of its school. In February 2008, the school added another grade and officially started its new high school. The school now consists of a seventh, eighth, ninth, and tenth grade, which offers the highest possible level of education along with meals and health services to its students free of charge. While all the other schools in the department of Tobatí only offer 3-4 hours of school each day, the Macchi School meets for ten hours per day. The Macchi students study English, Portuguese, Guaraní, Computer Science, and other courses, which are all taught by the best teachers in the region.
Vision: The Macchi Education Center and School strives to provide an accessible place for curricular and extracurricular interaction among the youth of Tobatí. The center achieves this aim by providing a multitude of programs ranging from curricular activities such as a school for 7th, 8th, 9th, & 10th graders, English classes, and computer classes to extracurricular activities such as summer camps, girl scouts, exciting community events, community service initiatives, and art programs. The Macchi Education Center and School is a hub of community interaction, where ideas begin, discourse flourishes, and young people come to learn, engage, and contribute to their community.
