This past month about fifteen students applied for a CCPA scholarship and this past week eight of them were admitted into the program. The scholarship allows them to study English every Saturday for five hours in Asuncion for free. We now have of a total of twenty-eight students studying in the program.
September 1, 2009
Three students from the Institute will be partcipating in the Town's Sub 17 Allstar soccer team which plays against teams from the surrounding area.
September 15, 2009
The Institute hosted another sucessful year of the Student Olympics. Scholl from all over Tobati came to particpate in a day long tournament which included volleyball, handball and soccer. The larger public school Conadomi placed first however The Institute Reinaldo Macchi respectively finished in second place. The day was a great sucess.
October 5, 2009
The Institute participated in a Town Parade which involved making a float. We borrowed a truck from a friend of ours and the students and teachers worked for about 4 hours decorating the truck the morning of the Parade. We announced a king (Joel) and queen (Edith) as represantives of the Institute. We had bags and bags of candies that we were throwing out at the little children. There was silly string being sprayed all over the place and all sorts of different noise makers. The float was driven by Mr. Darren LaFrenier and escorted by a small motorcade of students.
October 31, 2009
School was let out after 3:00pm so that the students could partake in some Halloween fun. There was pumpkin carving, a costume competition, a water balloon toss and to finish the day off we watched a scary movie (The Unborn) on the projector.
